NanoWrimo 2010

The month of November is upon us. What this means is simply that the month of October has officially passed. I'll be honest. October was not a very consistent/blog-friendly month. I've been busy with school, time management, lab work, life, time management, homework... that sort of thing. However, to be perfectly honest I'm really thinking that this next month will be better for blogging... sort of...

So the month of November is also National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, which is basically a month long event where you write a 50,000 word novel. Ideally you would write around 2,000 words a day or so and thus would result in a novel at the end of the month. The key here is quantity, not quality. The point is to really just write and keep on writing whatever comes to mind. So for the most part it should be pretty straight forward.

However, I am a bit obsessive compulsive when it comes to writing in that I want things to flow correctly, hence the reason why my covert story writing hasn't come to fruitation yet. So, I've decided to approach NaNoWriMo a different way this time around. I will be writing my story in the form of a journal, which in turn will be published as a blog as I write. Every day will have its own entry and thus around 1,500-2,000 words. Allow me to thus give you some information.

1. The story's title is: The Adventures of the Chupacabra Slayer
2. The basic concept should be pretty self explanatory in the title.
3. I am considering posting videos and/or audio recordings along with pictures in the actual blog post. However, rest assured that any time there is video or audio, I will write and include a transcript that will eventually count towards my final word count.
4. The protagonist for this story should not be too unfamiliar for those of you that know me personally.
5. Because of time constraints, as well as in order to save myself a huge headache, I will not be blogging in The Student's Journal (that would be the blog you're reading right now) throughout the remainder of the month unless I feel a desperate need to do so.
6. If you have any questions or want to get in on the action an help with anything or be a part of the story at all, feel free to let me know.
7. If you are also going to/want to participate in NaNoWriMo, then let me know and maybe we can have writing sessions or something.

I think that should just about cover it. Something of note, I went to a Halloween Party last night and won the costume contest. I was the Mad Hatter. My wife was Alice. Our friend was the Cheshire Cat. Also, I won an ipod shuffle! I am excited. ^.^ Have a great day everyone! I'll see you next month.
